Since 1997, I have been writing occasional columns for the Independent’s Saturday series ‘Faith & Reason’ and its seasonal series ‘Arguments for Easter’ and ‘Meanings of Christmas’. Here are some of the most recent.

I’ve also contributed a number of shorter and pithier pieces to Third Way’s series ‘Icon of the Month’, deconstructing everything from Africa to the Titanic. (I edited the first 45 of this fine series, all of which you can find posted for posterity in the magazine’s online archive.)
