Posing on the shores of the idyllic Laguna San Pablo

Here are some of the 69 travellers I have introduced to Ecuador: 19 readers of Third Way who in October 2000 enjoyed a 15-day tour that took in the high sierra, the rainforest and the Pacific coast. Everywhere we were surrounded by extraordinary beauty.

It was, said several of the party, the best holiday they had ever had (and excellent value too).

‘Every day had something new and different!’ wrote one. ‘Fantastic,’ said another: ‘We packed in a phenomenal amount.’

One older man came home so full of joie de vivre that he went and bought himself a sports car…

I’ve also organised two trips to Borneo and co-organised one to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
